We are
the Kingston Midtown Business Association. We represent Kingston's Midtown area, which follows Broadway from Albany Avenue to the intersection of Broadway and McIntee Street. We actively promote the interests of our members' businesses and institutions. Here are some of the projects and commitments that we are working on right now:
- Facade design guidelines for Broadway - ADOPTED.
- Still looking for 5 more businesses that will receive a $10K matching grant to fix up their facades: With the Rural Ulster Preservation Co., we have been awarded a New York Main Street grant, to revitalize up to 15 buildings along the Broadway corridor. Apply here.
- Creation of a Main Street manager position. We are working with the City of Kingston to create this position via Community Development Block Grant funds. The Manager will be employed by The Business Alliance of Kingston, and a management committee will help him/her meet the goals and objectives of the organization. Details on how to apply: pcourtneystrong@gmail.com
- B.I.D. research: we are exploring creation of a Business Improvement District, which would encompass Uptown, Midtown and possibly Downtown Kingston, to bring added services to the businesses in each neighborhood.
- We are working with www.kingstondigitalcorridor.org to support their exciting initiative to make Kingston a tech friendly city. Kudos to Mark Greene and K.J. McIntyre for this inspired campaign to attract more talented people to live and work in Kingston!
- We are collaborating with Kingston Together, a project of Kingston High School and the Parsons Scool of Design to teach student 3-D visualization and video documentation. Their first short video on Midtown can be seen here: www.kingstontogether.org
- We are working with Common Council members Shirley Whitlock, Annmarie DiBella, Tom Hoffay, and Mike Madsen so we can join forces to improve the area.
